Created in 1993, the V93 recipe quickly became a hallmark of the Menghai Tea Factory and a standard-setter for high-quality, everyday shu puerh. Its popularity is so immense that it has earned the nickname “Veshka” among connoisseurs. In 2005, this blend won the prestigious gold medal at the National Tea Expo in Shanghai.
The secret to V93’s success lies in its masterfully balanced blend of mature tea leaves and a generous amount of golden buds, which impart softness and sweetness to the taste. The tea is moderately compressed into a “tuocha” (nest) shape, making it easy to break apart for brewing. A carefully controlled fermentation (“wo dui”) ensures a clean, woody-nutty profile, free from any unpleasant earthiness.
Brewing Recomendations
For a more even infusion, we recommend gently breaking off the desired amount of tea from the cake and separating it into smaller pieces, either by hand or with a puerh knife.
